Level 1 English: The World of Words
This course covers the three main areas of English: written, visual and oral language. The course develops an appreciation of literature, literacy and communication skills through a range of internal and external assessment opportunities as listed below. The course delivers the standards for the literacy requirement for NCEA Level One.
Recommended Prior Learning
Open to all students who have achieved a level of competence in English in Year 10. All students must choose an English course.
Total Credits Available: 25 credits.
Externally Assessed Credits: 12 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 13 credits.
All subject selections are provisional only and are subject to:
- meeting any course entry requirements
- minimum class sizes
- the availability of teaching staff
and the final decision is at the discretion of the Head of Learning Area for that subject.
