Year 9 Food and Nutrition

Subject Description

This course has been developed from the Health and Physical Education  and Technology curriculum areas. You will cover some very fundamental topics and concepts such as preparing food safely, food preparation skills and basic nutrition, as well as establishing a sound understanding of the Technology Cycle and the concepts and terminology associated with this. 

The main focus is on improving your well - being through food and nutrition. You will work on improving your personal responsibility through the course with a focus on self-management, critical thinking skills, communication, decision making, and food preparation skills. Students will develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to make informed decisions and act in ways that contribute to their personal well-being and to the well-being of others.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Voluntary contribution of $35 for ingredients



All subject selections are provisional only and are subject to:

  • meeting any course entry requirements
  • minimum class sizes
  • the availability of teaching staff

and the final decision is at the discretion of the Head of Learning Area for that subject.
