Year 9 Design Technology

Subject Description

A 14 week course where students are given the opportunity to create several different technological outcomes using an array of technological materials.

Project 1 - Worbla mask - Worbla is a reusable thermoplastic which moulds using a hairdryer, students mould masks to their faces and decorate to their chosen theme.

Project 2 - Tinkercad and 3D printing - Student are taught the fundamental basics of 3Dmodelling and printing using Tinkercad and the schools Upbox mini 3D printers.

Project 3 - Student chosen project - Students are given a choice of three materials to work with to create a product of their choice. The three materials are recycled fabrics (op shop clothes ect), Recycled toys (old toys repurposed) or a recycled material of the students choice. The product is then exhibited on a social media platform of the students choice.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Students are required to supply materials to complete prototypes.Eg Fabrics, wood, foam board ect
The course fee covers all materials required to put the prototype together including glue, art supplies, threads, sandpaper 3D printing filament, and maintenance of all classroom machinery ect
