Level 1 Commerce
Subject Description
Teacher in Charge:
Commerce at level 1 NCEA is an introductory course in Business and Economics.
Students will learn first-hand how businesses operate by forming companies and selling a product or putting on an event. Students will gain skills in team work and enterprise, time and self-management. Students will then use this experience to investigate and solve operational problems for small businesses.
The course then introduces students to one of the fundamental concepts of Economics. the Supply and Demand Model. Students will learn how to use this model to examine the choices of Producers & Consumers separately and the impact of these choices on different groups in a market. Students also use this model to analyze interventions by the Government such as taxation, subsidies and price controls.
